Georgia on his mind

John Cannon (6'10, 225 lb. Center out of Mountain Heritage High School in Burnsville, N.C) has committed to Georgia for the 2011-12 basketball season.

Cannon averaged 22 pts., and 12 boards per game as a Senior with 606 career blocks -- which is the state record.

Cannon chose Georgia over Northwestern, and North Carolina,

Bhullar to Xavier

Sim Bhullar (7'4, 330 lb. Center out of Huntington Prep in Huntington, WV. by way of Punjab, India) is a member of the 2012-13 recruiting class and has committed to Xavier for the 2013 season.

Bhullar is a force to deal with in the painted area of the floor on both ends. He rebounds, scores, and blocks shots well and that is expected for a man his size. Once he is able to optimize his strength and conditioning through training -- he will be more of a force to deal with.

He also considered Cincinnati, Georgetown, West Virginia, and Pittsburgh during his recruitment process.

God's Gift Achiuwa is headed to St. John's

God's Gift Achiuwa (6'9, 230 lb. Center out of Erie Community College in Buffalo, NY. by way of Port Harcourt, Nigeria) has committed to St. John's for the 2011-12 basketball season.

Achiuwa was a first-team JUCO All-American that averaged 22 pts., 13 boards, and 2 blocks this past season for Erie.

He will have two years of eligibility with the St. John's Red Storm.

Player Spotlight: G. Chris Thomas

Chris Thomas (6'5, 190 lb. shooting guard out of Westwind Prep Academy in Phoenix, AZ. by way of Denver, CO.) is a member of the 2013 recruiting class and he has yet to pick a school of his choice for the 2013 season.

Thomas is an explosive player that attacks his opponents on the offensive end of the floor. The sky is the limit for Thomas.

He has offers from several schools. Tennessee, Ohio State, Kentucky, Colorado, and Xavier to name a few.

Henry is headed out West

Jarion Henry (6'8, 195 lb. small forward out of Kimball High School, in Dallas, TX.) has committed to New Mexico for the 2011-12 basketball season.

Henry was said to be one of the top ranked uncommitted players in the 2011 class.

He led Kimball to the Class 4A state title while averaging 15 pts., 13 boards, 9 assists per game last season.

Jarion is the son of former Oklahoma great, Herman "Skeeter" Henry.

Player Spotlight: G. Gabe York

Gabe York (6'1, 155 lb. shooting guard out of Orange Lutheran High School in Orange, CA.) is a member of the 2012 recruiting class and he has yet to pick a school of his choice for the 2012-13 basketball season. He is considering UConn, Arizona, Marquettee, USC, Oklahoma, UCLA, Stanford, along with several others.

York is a guard that can score in bunches. The staff here at www.5in60.com was fortunate enough to have seen York on the hardwood several times last weekend at the Real Deal in the Rock tournament. He shots the ball with confidence and he attacks the rim as if he has something personal against it.

Lekan is headed to Wyoming

Lekan Ajayi (6'11, 235 lb. Center out of Quality Education Academy in Winston Salem, NC., by way of Lagos, Nigeria) has committed to Wyoming, beginning the 2011 season.

Lekan is physical on both ends of the floor. He rebounds, runs the floor well, and blocks shots to trigger the uptempo game.

Ajayi considered Missouri, Wake Forest, Loyola Marymount, and Auburn during his recruitment process.

Murphy to graduate early

Alex Murphy (6'8, 215 lb. small forward out of St. Mark's High School in Southborough, MA. by way of South Kingston, RI.) committed to Duke in February of this year as a part of the 2012 recruiting class, but he has since decided this week to reclassify into the class of 2011 which will allow for him to enroll at Duke this upcoming Fall.

For a guy his size, Murphy can do it all at his position. He plays tough defense, he shoots the ball extremely well from the floor, and in fast break situations he attacks the rim with an attitude.

Alex displayed his talents this past weekend at the Real Deal in the Rock, as he led his 17u New England Playaz squad to the Finals in one of the most prestigious tournaments in the land.

He also considered UNC, Arizona, Kansas, and Florida (his older brother Erik Murphy attends Florida) before deciding on Duke.

Spike Lee "Player Exclusive" New York Knicks Jordan Spizikes

With the Knicks making the playoffs for the first time since 2004, it's only right that their #1 fan, Spike Lee, and Nike come together to drop some PE's of the Jordan Spizikes. No word yet on which player they were designed for but be on the look out for further details coming soon.

Webster-Chan re-opens his options

Negus Webster-Chan (6'7, 190 lb. small forward out of Huntington Prep in Huntington, WV., by way of Scarborough, Ont.,CAN.) is a member of the 2012 recruiting class and he once gave the Louisville Cardinals a commit for the 2012-13 basketball season.

He has since re-opened his recruitment and is no longer sold on the program at Louisville.

Negus is an athletic player who can play and guard multiple positions. He's a great fit for Louisville in their aggressive and uptempo style of play on both ends of the floor.

Negus will now add Kentucky, Marquette, Baylor Clemson and Louisville back to his list of schools.

Swizzy ft Melo and Stat "Go NY Go"

There's a lot of excitement among Knicks fans with them making the playoffs for the first time since 04 and going toe-to-toe with the C's in the first round. Super Producer Swizz Beatz recently teamed up with Melo and Stat to shoot and record the Knicks theme song "Go NY Go."

Real Deal In The Rock

Little Rock, Ar. -- The Real Deal In the Rock, has completed its seventh successful year as one of the Springs most coveted events when it comes to AAU club teams. Over the course of this three day tournament, the staff here at www.5in60.com were fortunate enough to witness some high profile and up and coming players from all over the United States and we were not disappointed.

The first night of the tournament was kicked off with two players ranked in the top 5 of the 2012 class in a match-up between Dream Vision, led by 6'6 Shabazz Muhammad and the Connecticut Basketball Club, led by the overall number 1 player in the 2012 class, 6'10 Andre Drummond. Muhammad led his squad to a 71-59 victory over Drummonds Connecticut Basketball Club and showed why he could possibly overtake Drummond for the number 1 overall ranked player in the class of 2012 by the end of the Summer circuit.

Isaiah Austin, (Mansfield, TX., Grace Prep)
2012, C, 6'11, 200 lbs -- Team: Compton Magic
Austin is ranked #3 in 2012 class and he showed why with his ability to clear the ball off of the glass, hit the mid-range jumper, and from time to time he brought the ball up the floor. With some added weight, this Baylor commit is set for stardom.

William "Shaq" Goodwin (Decatur, Ga., Southwest Dekalb)
2012, PF, 6'8, 215 lbs -- Team: Atlanta Celtics
Goodwin was a difficult guard for his opponents the whole weekend, he constantly roamed the painted area of the floor on both ends and provided the energy and ability that his Celtic team needed each time out. He is tough, physical, and will rise up and come down with a thunderous dunk once his team is able to fast break.

J.P. Tokoto (Menomonee, WI., Menomnee Falls)
2012, SF, 6'6, 190 lbs -- Team: Wisconsin Playground Warriors
Tokoto's team jumped out to early leads in a couple of games and the big fella was taking it easy as his team cruised to victory. He is long, athletic and has a smooth touch from the outside. UNC will get a good player once he arrives on campus for the 2012 season.

York was ruthless on the offensive end of the floor, often taking the big shot that his team needed. He has a tight handle on the pill and he shots the ball with range beyond the college three point line.


Jordan Adams (Lawrenceville, Ga./Oak Hill Academy)
2012, SF., 6'5, 210 lbs. -- Team: Atlanta Celtics
Adams' middle name should be "buckets", he can flat out score the ball on the offense end. He moves well without the ball in his hands, and he has excellent body control on plays where penetration is needed.

Mississippi State welcomes Sword

Craig Sword (6'1, 195 lb. shooting guard out of Carver High School in Montgomery, AL.) has committed to Mississippi State for the 2012-13 basketball season.

Sword led Carver with his 23 pts., 4 dimes, 5 assists, and 5 boards a game last season as he earned the Class 5A-6A All-Metro Player of the Year honors.

He also considered Alabama, Auburn, and the Georgia Bulldogs before committing to Mississippi State.

Richardson is ready for the Rocky Top

Josh Richardson (6'5, 180 lb. Small Forward out of Edmond Santa Fe High School in Edmond, OK., by way of Santa Fe, OK.) has committed to Tennessee for the 2011-12 basketball season.

Richardson averaged 17 pts., 6 boards, and 4 dimes as a Senior with the Wolves this past season.

Richardson is a competitor on both ends of the floor and his length allows him to wreck havoc by challenging on jump shots and getting his hands on bad passes by the offense.

Richardson also considered TCU, Providence, Ole Miss, and Georgia Tech.

Johnson signs with Seton Hall

Kevin Johnson (6'10, 225 lb. Center out of William Howard Taft High School in Woodland Hills, CA.) has committed to Seton Hall for the 2011-12 basketball season.

Johnson has a nice frame, broad shoulders, and he knows how to use his body in the painted area of the floor on both ends. If you are looking for some above the rim play from Johnson, forget about it -- but he does provide an attitude and some added toughness on both ends of the floor.

Johnson also considered Illinois, USC, Arizona State, and Texas before committing to Seton Hall.

Hubert is a Tar Heel

Desmond Hubert (6'10, 207 lb. Center out of New Egypt High School in New Egypt, NJ., by way of Cream Ridge, NJ.) has verbally committed to North Carolina for the 2011-12 basketball season.

Hubert averaged 16 pts., 9 boards and 6 blocks this past season while leading New Egypt to the Central Jersey Group 1 Section finals.

He is solid defensively, he blocks shots and is excellent on both the offensive and defensive boards. Hubert's improvement on the offensive end of the floor garnered interest from several schools before he signed with UNC.

Torres is Headed to Duquesne

P.J. Torres (6'3, 185 lb. shooting guard out of New Rochelle High School in New Rochelle, NY.) has verbally committed to the Duquesne Dukes for the 2011-12 basketball season.

Torres averaged 21 points, 9 boards and 8 assists per game for New Rochelle this past season.

Torres, chose Duquesne over College of Charleston, Hofstra and Rhode Island.

Rocky Top for Washpun

Wesley Washpun (6'1, 160 lb. point guard out of Washington High School by way of Cedar Rapids, IA.) has verbally committed to the Tennessee Volunteers for the 2011-12 basketball season.

Washpun averaged 18 pts., 5 boards and 4 dimes a game for Cedar Rapids Washington, which qualified for the Class 4A state tournament this past season.

Washpun chose Tennessee over his childhood favorite Iowa during his basketball recruiting process.

Memphis adds JUCO Center

Stan Simpson (6'11, 240 lb. Center out of John A. Logan Community College in Carterville, IL. by way of Chicago, IL.) has verbally committed to the Memphis Tigers for the 2011-12 basketball season.

Simpson was a member of the 2008 recruiting class at Illinois, where he spent two seasons. He then transferred to John A. Logan Junior College and averaged 14 pts. and 9 boards for John A. Logan, and he was named to the All-Region 24 team and the All-Great Rivers Athletic Conference second team.

Anderson to Kansas

Braeden Anderson (6'8, 222 lb. power forward out of Wilbraham & Monson Academy in Wilbraham, MA. by way of Calgary, Alb., CAN.) has verbally committed to the Kansas Jayhawks for the 2011-12 basketball season.

Anderson initially signed with Depaul during the early signing period but he was released from that commitment and signed with Kansas over interest from Kentucky, Arizona, and Mississippi State.

With both Morris twins leaving Kansas for the NBA Draft, look for Anderson to make an impact immediately this upcoming season.

Billy Garrett Jr. signs with DePaul

Billy Garrett Jr. (6'3, 165 lb. point guard out of Morgan Park High School in Chicago, IL.) is a member of the 2013 recruiting class and he has verbally committed to the Depaul Blue Demons for the 2013-14 basketball season.

Garrett Jr. is a versatile guard who is capable of playing either backcourt spot on the floor. His size, handle on the ball, and ability to hit big shots with range makes him that much more valuable when on the floor.

Billy Garrett Sr. is an assistant coach for Depaul.

Andrews is a Husky

Andrew Andrews (6'2, 180 lb. point guard out of Benson Polytech High School in Portland, OR.) has committed to the Washington Huskies for the 2011-12 basketball season.

Andrews has a nice handle on the pill for a point guard and when called upon, he can put the ball in the basket without much of an issue.

He averaged 24 points, 5 boards, and 5 dimes last season for Benson Polytech High School.

Aaron Gordon (6'7, 215 lb. forward out of out of Archbishop Mitty High School in San Jose, CA.) is a member of the 2013 basketball recruiting class and he has offers from the likes of Arizona, Stanford, California, and Washington.

JUCO Guard Will Enroll at Pacific

Marcus Falley (6'3, 175 lb. shooting guard out of Oxnard Junior College in Ventura, CA. by way of Lompoc, CA.) has verbally committed to the Pacific Tigers for the 2011-12 basketball season.

Falley is a deadly accurate shooter and he had several 30 point games as he led Oxnard College to a 16-10 regular season record with a post-season berth during the 2010-11 season.

Junior, Evan Nolte Makes His Choice

Evan Nolte (6'7, 190 lb. small forward out of Milton High School in Alpharetta, GA.) is a member of the 2012 recruiting class and he has given a verbal commitment to the Virginia Cavaliers for the 2012-12 basketball season.

Nolte avg. 15 pts., and 7 boards this year for Milton, which has played for three consecutive state championships in Georgia’s largest classification, which they won in 2010.

Rock Chalk, Jayhawk!

Ben McLemore (6'5, 185 lb. shooting guard out of Christian Life Center Academy in Humble, TX. by way of St. Louis, MO.) is a member of the 2011 recruiting class and he has verbally committed to the Kansas Jayhawks for the 2011-12 basketball season.

With McLemore's length and ablity to score from various spots on the floor -- makes him a threat at all times in Coach Bill Self's offensive style of play.

McLemore also considered, Tennessee, Missouri, Georgia Tech, and Ohio State before committing to the Jayhawks.
