Tobias Harris Picks Tennessee.

Tobias Harris, the 6'8, 210 lb. power forward out of Half Hollow Hills West High School in Dix Hills, NY., has committed to the University of Tennessee to join Bruce Pearl and his staff next Fall. Choosing between Georgia Tech, Louisville, Kentucky, Maryland, Syracuse, West Virginia and Tennessee, Harris decided to head down south to play for the Vols. Harris, who stands at 6'8, is listed as a power forward but is more of a floating power forward. He can step out and knock down the perimeter jump shot or break down the defense off the dribble and finish in the lane with authority. His versatility will allow him to play multiple positions at Tennessee.

Arizona is now in the mix for Selby.

Point guard Josh Selby, a senior out of Lake Clifton High School in Baltimore, MD who is rated the No. 7 prospect in the High School Hoop Top 50, has added the Arizona Wildcats to his list of schools and is planning a January trip to Tucson, his mother confirmed to the Arizona Daily Star.

Todd Mayo Is Undecided.....

Todd Mayo, the 6'3, 185 lb shooting guard out of Germantown High School, in Germantown, TN., has yet to make a decision on where he will attend school next Fall. Todd has been determined to distinguish himself from his well-known older brother O.J. Mayo of the Memphis Grizzlies. In doing so, Todd has developed himself into a very prolific shooting guard. Todd can get his shot off against anyone due to his ability to create space when a defender tries to crowd him. With a nice mid-range game, this gives him the ability to score in a number of ways. He has the size and strength to shoot over defenders on the perimeter or finish with contact in the painted area of the floor. If things continue to go the way they have for him, this guy will make some high-major program very happy in the late signing period because he has the ability to come in and contribute immediately.

They're Baaaaaaack!

The other night, I was watching the Lakers vs Heat game and saw this. Nike and their advertising/marketing peeps are genius for this campaign. Looking forward to seeing many more of these commercials throughout the season!

Memphis' own, Chris Crawford Will Stay Home To Be a Tiger!

Chris Crawford, the 6'4, 189 lb shooting guard out of Sheffield High School, in Memphis, TN., will attend the University of Memphis next Fall. Crawford is another fellow Memphis prospect that Coach Pastner has scooped up in his top-rated recruiting class of 2010. Crawford is an athletic two guard who has very good skills, and will be able to flourish in Coach Pastner's system.

Player Spotlight: PG Corey Joseph

Corey Joseph, the 6'3, 180 lb point guard out of Toronto, Ontario, CAN., by way of Findlay College Prep. This kid is an elite level point guard in the class of 2010. He is undecided as of right now -- he is considering Minnesota, UConn, UNLV, Texas, Louisville and Villanova to name a few.

Jimmy "V" Valvano Week!

5in60 would like to take the time to pay homage to the late great Jimmy Valvano, and the tremendous foundation that bears his name, while carrying on his legacy. ESPN has devoted an entire week to his memory. We weren't fortunate enough to meet Jimmy, but his story has touched us in ways that we can't express. We send our continual prayers out to the Valvano family and to all families that have lost someone to cancer.

The speech below is one that Valvano gave back in March of 1993. At an adolescent age, this was one of the greatest speeches we had ever heard growing up. And now, almost 17 years later, it's still one of the most relevant speeches ever.

Irving Picks Duke!!

Kyrie Irving, the 6'1, 172 lb point guard out of St. Patrick High School in New Jersey has chosen to join Coach K and his staff at Duke next Fall. Irving is one of the top 10 players in the country and is considered one of the nation's elite point guards. Irving visited Kentucky during their "Big Blue Madness" and he took Indiana off of his list in September. He also visited Texas A&M, and for those of you that didn't know -- former NBA player Rod Strickland (Cal's assistant at Kentucky) is his godfather. Irving is amazing in the uptempo game and just as good in half court sets. He can score from almost anywhere on the floor, which is significant due to the way Duke runs its offense. The number one thing his teammates will benefit from is his ability to break down defenses off of the bounce. This is a nice pick up for the Duke staff which has been in need of an elite point guard to join its program. I really like this kid's game.

Player Spotlight: PG Kendall Marshall

Point Guard Kendall Marshall, standing 6′4, 185 lbs, out of Arlington, Virgina’s Bishop O’ Connell High. Marshall is the best high school passer in all of the land. His accolades do not stop there, his own offensive skills are quite often over-looked. He loves to carve opposing defenses when slashing to the basket, and has a solid mid-range jumper. If he has any weaknesses at all, it is the ability to hit the "3-ball" with consistency -- but look for him to improve that facet of his game as his senior season moves forward. Marshall is a perfect fit for the Roy Williams system at UNC -- a true student of the game.
