Justin Hawkins commits to UNLV.

Justin Hawkins, a 6'2, 170 lb shooting guard out of William Howard Taft High School in Woodland Hills, CA., will attend UNLV this Fall to play basketball during the 2009-10 season. Hawkins was one of the more skilled high school players in the state of California. He doesn't have great foot speed or quickness, nor does he have great lift, but he has a knowledgeable understanding how to play the game at both ends of the floor. He can knock down the 3 ball and post-up smaller opponents. Defensively, he does a nice job of shutting down his opponent and has great instincts for the game. Although he doesn't possess all the physical tools you look for in a Division I recruit, coach Kruger should be able to find some playing time for this UNLV frosh when the season starts.
