Naadir Tharpe (6'0, 170 lb. point guard out of Brewster Academy in Worcester, MA.) has verbally committed to Kansas for the 2011-12 basketball season. Tharpe gave Providence a verbal commitment in March, but de-committed from Providence and made the choice to attend Kansas next Fall.
Several high school point guards feel they have to dominate the ball -- over dribbling and over shooting. He understands how to play the game and he is an outstanding passer. Tharpe averaged 13 pts. and 6 dimes last season for Brewster Academy.
Rutgers, UNLV, St. John's University, Indiana, Boston College, Marquette and Minnesota also were reportedly on Tharpe's short list.
