Findlay Prep standout, Carlos Lopez signs with UNLV.

Carlos Lopez, the 6'9, 200 lb power forward out of Findlay College Prep in Henderson, NV., will enroll at UNLV this Fall and play for the Runnin' Rebels starting with the 2009-10 season. Lopez averaged 7.0 points and 4.5 rebounds last year as the Pilots were 32-1 overall and lost in the prep school national championship game. As of right now, Lopez is seen as more of a finesse frontline player due to his lack of strength and muscle. However, he compensates for his lack of size by effectively utilizing a diverse skill-set on the offensive end by stepping away to knock down those 15-18 foot jumpers. Look for head Runnin' Rebel, Coach Lon Kruger to design offensive plays that allow Lopez to get involved in pick-and-pop situations on the perimeter, to maximize his skills as a big fella.
