Shawn Williams, the 6'6, 190 lb small forward out of Duncanville High School in Duncanville, TX., has committed to play basketball for The University of Texas this Fall. Shawn Williams, an adept shooter from Duncanville High School has good elevation, release and follow through on his jumper. he was one of the first players in the class of 2009 who has pledged to join basketball coach Rick Barnes at Texas for the following season. He is a solid ball-handler that can drive and slash with either hand and he finishes with great touch and body control. He does a good job on defense by playing the passing lanes and uses his long arms and athletic ability to anticipate passes and turns them into big plays on the other end. If Williams wants to be a solid contributor as a freshman in Rick Barnes' system, then he must improve his upper body strength and work on getting others involved when the defense collapses on him during plays.
