ASU gets Demetrius Walker.

Demetrius Walker, the 6'4, 200 lb combo guard out of St. Mary's High School in Phoenix, AZ., has committed to play basketball for Arizona State University this Fall, beginning the 2009-10 season. He has a chiseled NBA physique and he has had that type of body since his freshman year of high school. Walker is first and foremost a dominant scorer and he can hurt the opposition in several ways. He's at his best in the transition game, where he attacks the basket with reckless abandon - more times than not it will be with a thunderous dunk. He needs to hone his perimeter ball handling skills, particularly his left hand, and continue to smoothen out his jump shot to play at the highest level at Arizona State. As a freshman, it would not surprise me at all to see Walker start some games, hit a decline as a freshman and struggle some, then become a stronger contributor later on in Pac-10 play. It will be interesting to see if he can run the team from the PG position, or if he is only interested in being a scorer.
