Kyrie Irving, the 6'1, 172 lb point guard out of St. Patrick High School in New Jersey has chosen to join Coach K and his staff at Duke next Fall. Irving is one of the top 10 players in the country and is considered one of the nation's elite point guards. Irving visited Kentucky during their "Big Blue Madness" and he took Indiana off of his list in September. He also visited Texas A&M, and for those of you that didn't know -- former NBA player Rod Strickland (Cal's assistant at Kentucky) is his godfather. Irving is amazing in the uptempo game and just as good in half court sets. He can score from almost anywhere on the floor, which is significant due to the way Duke runs its offense. The number one thing his teammates will benefit from is his ability to break down defenses off of the bounce. This is a nice pick up for the Duke staff which has been in need of an elite point guard to join its program. I really like this kid's game.
