There Is Trouble In Minneapolis As Minnesota Freshman Quits Team Via Youtube.

Tubby Smith's biggest in-state recruit in his short tenure at Minnesota has quickly turned into his biggest headache. Royce White, one of the highly-touted freshman in the class of 2009, has experienced a rocky start playing for Coach Tubby Smith's Golden Gophers. He has already pled guilty to charges of theft and assault for shoving a security guard at Mall America, and is being investigated for Dorm Room Laptop Theft.

Coach Smith has yet to play White in a game this season amid his off-court issues. Now, in a YouTube video, White announced to the world that he is stepping away from the Minnesota basketball team. White, from nearby Minnetonka, MN, states that he will not leave the school, but leaving basketball will lift the burden off the team and his family.

Perhaps, former Coach Bobby Knight's words during his speech at the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame fundraiser last week on the overall state of college basketball has merit? I'll let you decide....
Check out the Associated Press article here for a bit more on Royce White's story.

It's somewhat lenghty, but watch the video below as Royce explains his decision to leave Minnesota.
