Looks like Santa brought the Georgetown Hoyas an early Christmans present this year. Greg Monroe officially signed his letter of intent to suit up for the Hoyas next year. The 6'10 big man out of Louisiana is considered by most recruiting services to be the best big man in the class of 2008 and some even have him listed as the top player in the country. Although LSU was considered to be a frontrunner early on, he chose the Hoyas over the Tigers, Duke, UConn and Texas. Head Coach John Thompson told USA Today, "He's an important piece to what we're doing here. He's a very unselfish player with the ability to help himself and his teammates." Monroe has a nice mid-range jumper and runs the floor well for a big man. The Hoyas also signed
6'10 center Henry Sims (Baltimore (MD) Mount St. Joseph), 6'8 forward Chris Braswell (Chatham (VA) Hargrave Military Academy)and 6'2 guard Jason Clark (Arlington (VA) Bishop O'Connell). I'm guessing Coach Thompson and crew are serious about making a return trip to the Final Four.
