Player Spotlight: SG Jelani Hewitt

Jelani Hewitt, the 6'2, 175 lb shooting guard out of Northeast High School in Oakland Park, FL., is undeclared but he has several suitors -- Tulsa, Marshall, Auburn, Marquette, and South Florida to name a few. Hewitt is a true combo guard, who has exceptional ball-handling skills. Hewitt can also score in traffic with good body control or knock down the jumper with consistency. Hewitt game is more smooth than explosive and he usually resorts to breaking down his defender with his handles rather than blowing by them with quickness. His main weakness at this point probably is his lack of a quick burst and he struggles with decision making at the pg position. With time and work, look for him to be one of the better guard prospects in the 2010 class to come out of Florida.
